Going to DC

Not by bike. But just to try it out and to see it work, I’ll be running the Greenalp tracker on my phone. You can see where I am on my trip to Washington DC at this page.

I’m driving down for my Uncle Paul’s funeral for a couple of days. My son Frank is going to be with me. It’s been many years since I’ve been to DC and this is the first time I’ve ever driven myself. I’m looking forward to it. Wish I could make a longer trip out of it, but finances just don’t permit.

Anyway, laptop and camera are going with. If anything interesting happens, I’ll be sure to write about it here!

I’ll be deciding on the fate of the bike trip after I am back. I’m also thinking about a group ride on the GAP trail in October. It’s a three-day trip leaving from Maryland and going into Pennsylvania on the GAP trail. Just to get a taste of the GAP trail.

Trouble already

Well, I’m on the road. I made it as far as the tiny burg of Hulberton and was deciding whether to go on or go back a half mile to see if I could camp at an RV place I saw.

Well, the bike made up my mind for me. The seat frame broke right at the bracket where it attaches to the bike. I can ride it but it’s poking me in the butt. I could stick something in there for padding, but I think it’s just a matter of time until the other side goes.

If I was far away, I’d just camp somewhere and find a local weld shop to fix it. But since I’m so close to home, I’m going to go back to Lockport.

Postponed

I’m sending this from my phone again to make sure this still works.

I did something stupid. I went to pack my medicines for my trip and realized I only had three of one of the pills left. I had put off reordering them until after my doctors visit Tuesday and they won’t get here until next week. I called the doctor’s office and got a local refill, but that took a day and I just got it this morning. I’m spending the day repacking and trying to lighten my load. I hope to leave tomorrow. This is a pretty daunting undertaking, I’m hoping once I get underway, it will seem less so.

Let’s see if this works

Okay, lets try a test post with a photo embedded. I uploaded this photo from Canal Fest to Photobucket and copied the link. A little HTML and it should show up!
