Cycling The Erie Canal 2011. I rode as a "bike SAG" escort on the first leg from Buffalo to Medina. I camped overnight, then rode home on my own. Also some photos of a side trip to Niagara Falls the day before.

I built a custom solar panel for the bike trailer and learned a lot. Mostly, I'll never do it again. It was worth it for the experience, though.

In June of 2016, I took a bikepacking jaunt along Lake Ontario towards Rochester. I spent the weekend in Webster with RDXA doing Field Day, then headed back towards home, following the Erie Canalway Trail. I ended up in Brockport, where I checked into a hotel and called for a ride home due to heat and exhaustion. Even my car didn't like it. It overheated on the way home.

I take a trip to visit the abandoned section of the Erie Canal near Port Byron and Weedsport. There are bike trails that follow the old canal, much of which is still visible and water-filled. Some of the stonework from old locks has been made into an historical site near the Thruway.

Slow Roll - Labor Day 2015

I went to the Slow Roll Buffalo, an excrutiatingly slow mass-of-humanity ride that I don't see the appeal for. I guess you have to try it to know.
