Question on my podcast

I worked with the band Flatbed last weekend on a podcast. we had a great time and I had some great conversation with Derek Bassett from the band about the music scene.

In a followup email, he asked me the following question and I got to thinking my answer would be great material for this blog. Never mind that I got so long-winded!

Here’s the question:

We’d all like to get to know you better. For instance – How did you get started doing all of this?

Peter Case on major record labels…

“I can’t stand the major labels, to tell you the truth. The major record companies have so many records that they don’t know what they have. No one returns your phone calls, so it virtually takes a miracle to contact someone there, and then they don’t get back to you when they say they will; it is a very difficult environment to work with. It is really hard; you get guys who try to tell you how to write songs. I’d rather deal with people who are interested in what I’m doing.”
