Did you know Lockport had a Federal Building? I didn’t.
This is one of those places everyone called by another name. If you can’t guess it, or don’t know already, you’ll laugh because it’s so obvious. Click on the photo for another clue.
Yesterday: The cannon at Altro Park, or as we will forever call it Willow Park because that’s what it was called when we grew up there and it’s on Willow Street in Lockport. The cannon is at the corner of Willow and Cottage.
I am guessing that this is the old Post Office building near the library. Back in the day a lot of central post office buildings had offices of other government agencies on the upper floors. That is why it is referred to as the “federal building”. I know the military recruitment office was in there, and I think the social security office was, too.
