Please Don't Feed the Animals |
I complained about the geese along the canal before. When I rode through there today, I noticed some new signs had been placed on the canal banks warning against feed the birds.
The birds must have left in protest, because I didn’t see one goose today and the path was clean and free of bird poop. In reality, I believe the hot weather has driven them further north in search of cooler conditions. Canada, you’re welcome to your geese!
It’s a great time, with the geese gone to walk the canal paths. With Old Home Week going on, there is supposed to be some activities going on in the Market Street area, although I saw no signs of them this morning/early afternoon, that doesn’t mean the won’t be there later.
Sailboat passing under lift bridge |
As I rode past the docks at Exchange St. I heard the bridge warning bells going ad saw a boat was waiting to go under the lift bridge. I thought it might be interesting, so I rode onto the docks and got out my camera. I took some photos of this sailboat. A woman on the boat called out to me and said she liked my bike. I told her, “Thanks, I like your boat!”

The Hemlock from Skaneateles |
I’d seen this boat here before, about a month or so ago. I had even taken a poor photo with my cell phone, so I thought I’d take a better one. I don’t know whether it was the same people, or if it’s some kind of tour or rental boat. It sure looks like a neat way to take a vacation, though. I was going to ask about it, but when I had finished taking my pictures, the people had gone below decks and I didn’t want to disturb them.

The next day, the geese were back. Either they had a day off, were hiding somewhere beating the heat, or a new crop came in to take their place.
