I’ve been hearing about this Web 2.0 for about a year now. No one seemed to be able to really define what it is, though. It finally dawned on me one day after all the new cool stuff (that’s a technical term…) I’ve been seeing for the web.
Web 2.0 isn’t the latest piece of software. It’s not the newest version of HTML, or XML or PHP or Ajax or Ruby on Rails… it’s all of that, but none of that.
Web 2.0 is not an application, or technology. It’s an era. Web 2.0 is the next generation of the Internet. It’s the new way the net is doing things, and the new expectations people have of it.
I don ‘t know what brought it on, but it was one of those “A-ha” moments, where it just came to me. Some of you are saying “So what?” Some are saying “Well, Duh!” But to me it was a bit of a revelation, yet so simple once it came to me.
Yet, it doesn’t really change my life much. Just a mystery solved… Oh Well.
